The Association

The Association James Cusmano is a public catholic association of lay people called to follow the Cusmano ideal of “Charity without limit”, convinced that Christian life is founded on love.
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” (Luke 10,27)
The Association is born from the will of his founder to save the poor involving also the rich in a project of love.
“Our mission is dual: to help the poor in taking their suffering milder and to gain them to God, and to bring the rich to the poor, to render them capable of gaining the grace of the Lord” (letter of Suor Maddalena Cusmano 12/09/1983)
Her particular mission is to serve “all humanity from the crib to the tomb” (art. 28 Statute), helping them in their material and spiritual needs, following the example of Cusmano who made God and his neighbor the scope of his life.
It is through the “mouthful”, which is the everyday practice of love, enriched and strengthened by the Word that an associate hears and meditates in his heart. “Spying all the illness of humanity, to meet every kind of suffering and need, materially and spiritually” (Art. 13 Statute)
The Association dedicates concretely:
- In personal level, deepening the knowledge of the love of God and of neighbor in formation encounters and seeking to do at least one act of charity everyday (mouthful), in the family, at work, in the street…
- In group level, bringing joy in the houses for the aged and in the hospitals (during Christmas, Carnivals, Easter, for Mother’s day, for grandmother’s and grandfather’s day…), serving for the banquet of the Poor and of the extra-communities, helping to trace in social centers, choosing and distributing food, clothes and medicines for the needy families, involving them to support the families in difficulties , the youths who are in search of work, the young mothers who are in need of baby’s layette… promoting the adoptions at a distance, the legal adoptions , the temporary assurances of living and helping the children in difficulty…
